June 22, 2020

It’s only Monday, and we already have a whole raft of Digitex news and updates to share! From a new exchange listing in Vietnam to the next round of our popular photo contest with giveaways, to a podcast interview with Adam – read on for all the latest from the DFE.

New Exchange Listing

To kick things off, we’re delighted to announce another new exchange listing for DGTX! VCC Exchange will soon start listing the DGTX token paired with ETH. The exchange is currently preparing the pair for deposits and withdrawals, which will open imminently.

VCC is focused predominantly on the Vietnamese and Singaporean markets, listing 135 coins in 211 token pairs. It offers a fiat onboarding service in Vietnamese dong and has worked with the Vietnamese government on various initiatives, including a legal framework for blockchain-based applications.

Photo Contest – Now Open Once Again!

The first round of our photo contest proved so popular with our mainnet traders that we’ve revived it. This time, the mainnet group can put their creativity to the test with a fresh round of prizes.

The rules are slightly different from the last contest but are very simple. Post a picture of your mainnet trading setup either at home, or in a unique, beautiful, or interesting location on Twitter or Facebook and send it in using this form.

We will raffle the prizes on July 1, live! Prizes are as follows:

  • First place – 5,000 DGTX
  • Second and third place – A silver DGTX coin
  • Fourth and fifth place – A Digitex cap or t-shirt

Entries are limited to one per person per day, and duplicates will be rejected. If someone submits more than one entry per day, the last one will be accepted as their submission. The day ends at midnight UTC.

Hacker Noon Podcast Interview with Adam

Last Friday, Adam took to the airwaves for a podcast interview with Utsav Jaiswal for the Hacker Noon Podcast. The episode is titled “How to build a cryptocurrency exchange from scratch by Adam Todd, CEO & Founder of Digitex Futures,” and over the course of an hour, Adam and Utsav get into all the nitty-gritty of building the DFE.

Starting with the beginnings of Adam’s discovery of crypto and the potential of smart contracts, to the rollercoaster journey to launch, including all the bumps along the way – this interview is not one to miss. Adam talks about the multiple lessons he’s learned, the trepidation he felt in the day before launch, and his pride in how far the DFE has come. Make sure you add it to your playlist.

250 More Traders Onboarded to the Mainnet

Last Thursday, we onboarded another group of 250 traders to the mainnet. Over the weekend, the DFE saw an increase of around 10-12% volume compared with weekday activities, and a high of $123 million 24-hour volume.

As usual, the feedback we’re getting from newcomers is overwhelmingly positive, and traders are making some healthy profits to boot!

True Crypto Patriot managed to reap 50% profit within the first few days of trading, while cryptomug358 describes the DFE as a “dream.”

Adam Demonstrates High Liquidity on the DFE

Digitex Futures
• Digitex
June 5, 2020

Finishing off this week, we have a brand-new video from CEO Adam with the latest updates and news from the DFE. Adam is thrilled with the levels of liquidity we’re seeing from our mainnet traders, and in this video, he demonstrates how easy it is to get orders filled. We also have new features coming, and a brand-new range of Digitex-branded merchandise.

Adam opens the video by confirming that we’ve now onboarded another 100 mainnet traders, bringing the total to 420. Even with these relatively small numbers, we’re hitting trading volumes of $120 million per day, positioning Digitex to be one of the most liquid exchanges on the market once we’re fully open to the public.

Adam starts off with the trading liquidity demo. He explains that each tick has a 0.1 DGTX value. So if we open a position of 1,000 contracts, it means that each tick now has a value of 100 DGTX (1000 x 0.1 = 100). If the value of DGTX is around $0.05, that means you make or lose $5 (100 x $0.05 = $5) for every one tick price movement up or down. The tick size on the ladder that represents the price of one full Bitcoin is also $5, which means that buying 1000 futures contracts gives you the same exposure to BTC price movements as if you owned one physical Bitcoin. Using 10x leverage, you only need $1000 to enter this futures position as opposed to the $10,000 you need to buy one physical Bitcoin.

Zero Slippage

In the video, we can see that when Adam buys 1,000 contracts, the value of one BTC, his order is filled instantly, and the same when he sells them with zero slippage.

Adam starts to scale up. With 5,000 contracts, worth around 5 BTC, fills are still instant.

A trade worth 5 BTC means that a single-tick movement has $25 in value. So a trader using this position size could scalp a single tick profit of $25 within the space of a few seconds and with two mouse clicks, based on the liquidity provided by just a few hundred traders.

Adam scales up again to 10,000 contracts. By moving only two ticks along, he can get the order filled instantly on the ladder.

$450,000 Trade Matched in Seconds

Always one to test the boundaries, Adam moves up to 25,000 contracts. He lifts 8000 contracts from the offer and bids for the remaining 17,000 contracts which get filled within seconds with zero slippage.

He demonstrates this a second time by hoovering up the order book on the sell side, getting filled instantly. Despite buying up 25,000 contracts from the offer side the market immediately reforms itself around the spot price with minimum spread. Bear in mind that 25,000 contracts represents 25 BTC which is worth a cool quarter of a million dollars – and this is real money he’s trading.

At 50,000 contracts, his balance gets maxed out! The biggest trade he can reach at this point is 45,000 contracts. An instant fill means moving about five ticks along the ladder, but the liquidity is still there to instantly fill his position that represents $450,000 of exposure to the price of Bitcoin.

So, if there were any doubt that the DFE is on track to achieve record-breaking liquidity, this video should put that to rest! With just 420 traders on the platform, pretty much any order size is guaranteed to get filled within a matter of seconds.

Digitex Merchandise – Coming Soon!

We will soon be opening the Digitex merchandise store on our website! Adam confirms that we’re launching a brand-new range of Digitex-branded goods, including Digitex caps, T-shirts, phone covers, stickers, and more. Check out some preview pictures:

The only acceptable currency for payment will be DGTX tokens, and we will be giving away some of this gear as contest prizes. The prize-giving starts this weekend, as we’re running a user satisfaction poll for our mainnet traders. Once the poll is closed, we’ll randomly select five submissions to receive a brand-new Digitex cap or T-shirt!

New Features Set to Land

Our mainnet traders have been clamoring for the stop-loss feature to be implemented, so the development team has delivered. Starting from yesterday, stop-loss is now live on testnet. Once it’s been successfully tested, it will move onto the mainnet, providing some security for those leaving the trading screen with open positions.

We’re also only a couple of weeks away from launching the API, which is about to open to the first alpha testers. We’ll share more feedback and a launch date as soon as the development team confirms.

All new features have to successfully pass the beta testing before we can put them live. Therefore, we urge our trading community to get onto the testnet and start playing around with the stop-loss, reporting any issues to the support team. A fast testing turnaround means a quicker migration to mainnet, and a greater chance we can ramp up the onboarding to the live platform sooner rather than later.

Photo Contest – The Winners

On Monday, we announced the five finalists in the mainnet photo contest, asking our community to vote on their favorite. We had just short of 600 votes, but the clear winner, picked by over 350 community members, was Wakanda Forever’s Cyberpunk Spiderman!

Adam Demonstrates High Liquidity on the DFE 9

Our first-place winner takes a cool 30,000 DGTX for this effort – congratulations!

In second place was Silvi Silvito’s adorable baby daughter, who takes the next prize of 12,000 DGTX for her virtual piggy-bank. Third place goes to Zeroheat’s stunning sunset shot, netting 8,000 DGTX.

Based on the success of this contest, we’ll be launching similar events very soon, with the opportunity to win some of our brand-new range of merch. Thanks to everyone else for their entries, particularly runners-up David and Steve, and to all our community who participated in voting!

Cast Your Vote in our Mainnet Photo Contest!

Digitex Futures
• Digitex
June 1, 2020

Two weeks ago, we announced in a blog post that we would be opening up a new kind of contest for our mainnet traders. We asked them to submit photo entries showing themselves trading in unique, beautiful, or far-flung places or situations. As always, our dedicated community didn’t disappoint!

We received dozens of entries from all corners of the globe, reflecting the diverse make-up of the Digitex community. Submissions included stunning landscapes, from mountains to lakes, to beaches. Plenty of animals also got a look-in, including chickens, horses, and naturally, bulls. We even had a Stormtrooper.

So, whittling down these awesome submissions made for some difficult choices! However, the Digitex team have decided on these five photos.

Now, the final winners are up to you!

How to Participate

From the list of five photos below, decide which one is your favorite. Then, head over to the Digitex Telegram channel, where our Community Managers will be running a poll.

Cast your vote in the poll, and on Friday this week, we’ll announce the winners! The prizes are as follows, allocated in order of which photos get the most votes:

First prize: 30,000 DGTX

Second prize: 12,000 DGTX

Third prize: 8,000 DGTX

So, without further ado, here are the contenders!

Entry 1 from Wakanda Forever

Cast Your Vote in our Mainnet Photo Contest!  13

We had several submissions where traders showed us their home trading setup, but Wakanda Forever really pulled out all the stops with this shot of “Cyberpunk DFE Spiderman scalping the market.” Apparently, being in quarantine really pushes the imagination, because Wakanda created the Digitex brand colors by using cellophane-covered lights and added the smoke effect in real life – no photoshop used. Impressive efforts indeed!

Entry 2 from Zeroheat

Cast Your Vote in our Mainnet Photo Contest!  14

The second entry from Zeroheat doesn’t need much explanation. What better place to scalp a profit than sitting high above the water, watching a gorgeous sunset? With that view, even the odd losing trade would hurt less.

Entry 3 from Steve Halle

Cast Your Vote in our Mainnet Photo Contest!  15

Because who doesn’t love a bit of company when they’re trading on the mainnet? One of the most exotic animals featured in our contest, this curious giraffe captured by Steve looks like he wants in on the zero-fee action!

Entry 4 from David

Cast Your Vote in our Mainnet Photo Contest!  16

Last year, Digitex adopted a raging bull as the symbol for what our CEO and our vision embody. So we couldn’t resist this submission from David. If you can’t get the bulls to come to the mainnet, then take the mainnet to the bulls. (We still need to check if this proved to be a winning strategy.)

Entry 5 from Silvi Silvito

Cast Your Vote in our Mainnet Photo Contest!  17

Possibly the youngest (and definitely the cutest) Digitex supporter has a clear appetite for scalping! Evidently, our mainnet traders believe it’s never too early to get started on zero-fee trading because, as her parent Silvi explained: “She is convinced that the Digitex project will change her life for the better.” We’ll do our best, kiddo!

So, what are you waiting for? Get on over to Telegram and cast your votes! We’ll be announcing the winners this Friday, June 5.

What’s more, we’ll be running weekly photo contests similar to this in the future. Along with the opportunity to win DGTX, contestants can also be in with a chance of winning some of the brand-new range of Digitex-branded merchandise. We’ll be unveiling more details about the new contests, and the merchandise, very soon!

Treasury Tokens Issued Today

It’s the first day of June, which means that today, we’ll be releasing 10 million new DGTX tokens that will be available for sale from the Treasury

If you want to support Digitex directly, then purchasing your DGTX through the Treasury is the best way to do so. Tokens will be sold at a 10% premium to market value.

All Treasury sales go directly to funding Digitex’s ongoing operations, providing us with a sustainable means of financing. Treasury transactions are instant, trustless, and secure.

Mainnet Onboarding Progress

Last Thursday, right on schedule, we onboarded another 100 users to the mainnet, bringing the total number to 320. Based on feedback from the developers, we will continue to onboard new users at the same rate over the coming weeks.

We appreciate that this is causing some frustration among those who are eager to see the mainnet undergo a full public launch as soon as possible. However, we will continue to be led by the developers regarding the readiness of the exchange to accept more users.

Remote working has inevitably put some constraints on the speed at which the team can work. However, we will have more updates about new features, including the API testing, coming up over the next few days and weeks. We’re fully committed to remaining transparent about development progress while ensuring we can reach a full public launch as soon as possible.

A massive thanks as always to our loyal community for sticking with us. We’ve come this far – rest assured that the wait will be over soon!
